Chicago native Catherine O'Connell is the author of two novels, Skins and Well Bred and Dead. After graduating from the University of Colorado School of Journalism, she worked at a variety of jobs including hotel maid, bar manager, floor runner at the Chicago Board of Trade, sommelier, and as a sales executive for fine wine company Kobrand Corp.—providing her with insight into many different walks of life that she is able to incorporate into her writing
A member of the Mystery Writers of America and the International Association of Crime Writers, she sits on the board of the Aspen Writers’ Foundation and oversees the foundation’s weekly writers group. She is also a literacy advocate through the adult education program, English in Action, and a moderator of the Great Books program at the Aspen Institute.
Catherine has appeared on ABC, NBC, CBS, the Cox network and several radio shows including WGN Radio’s SUNDAY PAPERS with Rick Kogan.
A consummate reader, skier, back country hiker and biker, she divides her time between Aspen, Chicago and Apris.
She is currently work on Well Read and Dead.
